Gold Rush (New for 2024)

I agree with you. But there is the counter suggestion that by removing the higher height rides they are actually saying that it is a "market" that they aren't intending to deliberately cater to.

Personally though to me every points to a big thing!! at a time where there has been a lot of investment anyway this development has always had the feel of being the signature ride. Especially as it has replaced Apocolypse which literally towered above most things when considering the park in the minds of people.
Well Pandemonium was originally 1.2m when it 1st opened and having the sit down option on Apocalypse that meant on average most 7 year olds could ride on it.
My daughter hit 1.4m August last year aged 10 which is the average age so it’s tough if the park aiming for families under 8.

I do agree with you.

I'm not sure whether in the alternative scenario that they would be specifically targetting the U8s. Just trying to minimise the amount of rides that some cannot go on because of height. I can imagine for daytrippers it can be quite frustrating if the offering is limited for some, especially when there is no price break when you hit the age of 4.

Personally I think if you do have a "signature ride" with a height restriction it does encourage return trips, "we'll come back when you've hit 1.4"

I would be very surprised if the coaster isn't a minimum of 1.0m tall to ride given their current marketing. The likes of the Dragon Coaster at Legoland, Vampire at Chessington & Flight of Pterodaur at Paultons are all good rides for this height range that would be fantastic additions to the parks line-up

I think it be a big mistake if the park don’t aim for the 1.2m tall height restriction age range as you got 2 coasters in the park for the 1.0m height then the following year they can go on Jormungandr but that’s it to they tall enough for Shockwave but by then they been tall enough for Spinball, Thirteen and Wickerman at Alton Towers.
Was the wooden fencing up yet?

No wooden fencing up. Just the see through metal stuff. Looks quite untidy but I would be surprised if they are waiting for the new Thamas Land ride to open first and use some of that fencing

Couldn’t get a good angle due to the rain today however it looks like the steps to the toilet block have been ripped out with a lot of the digging extending towards the toilet path way. I wonder if these toilets will be ear marked to go ?

We (personally) imagine this ride will cater to an older / taller audience than Jormungandr.
Partly based on the location, removal of older/taller audience rides and from how I translated what I heard when at the launch event.
Thomas Land is great for younger audiences, including those who often are too small - From that, I determine that this side of the park will have the opposite.
Fun for everyone is their park motto at the moment ;)

Ok, so I'm not a techie like some on here. So I am always wary about posting something which may be totally wrong but...

When we popped in after school this evening I noted that there was a big mound of excavated debris to the left (barrells / showdown) side of the site.

To my untrained eye this could have 3 potential outcomes.

1. It's just waiting to go off site
2. It is going to be used in levelling the rest of the area.
3. There is a need for a higher elevation at some point be that for a loading platform or something ride related.

Have they removed more of the steps that go up to the toilet block? The debris could be going off site as everything now is reused or recycled.
Has the concrete base of the former fish and chip show been taken up yet?

I was viewing when on Accelerator and Jormungasduhasiufgwehjbfvsdjhu so by the time I'd worked out what I was looking at I'd gone past. Sorry.

It was just that the "pile" was pretty well sculpted, like a tall longbarrow, that made me think it may have been deposited for a purpose. But it is also noticable that the ground undulates quite a bit there and the concrete bases that were already in place are on different levels.

As of today we see more ground movement as well as what looks like a few levels being added in the dirt.

Some photos on the towersstreet forum show that wooden work walls have now gone up around the site.
There goes my attempts to get any good photos haha (As we all know how short I am...)
I'll see what I can do though. Will be onsite tonight so can at least get some photos of the boards.
