Queue Jumping and Security

Matthew

While at the park recently, which was busy due to school trips, I saw a few incidents involving people jumping queues.

Just before the building on Accelerator some tried to join the group by ducking undr the barriers. Luckily the attendant at the door saw this and called them out. Security then escorted them the the back (and they stormed off)

Then on Shockwave a whole group of FOUR girls tried to duck the railings, then a guy next to us in the queue told us and we all went past them. They weren't happy at all and tried to push past, but the host spoke to them firmly and prevented them from moving.

And on Maelstrom a couple of people joined the queue but just stood talking, blocking the way. They were then told to leave by the steward.

What I'd like to say is well done and thank you to the hosts, stewards and external security staff. They took a no-nonsense approach to a serious problem. (y)

It’s a shame that the kids push in and think it’s okay to do it I feel bad for the families in on these busy days. When I visited I noticed went quiet at about 4 ish.

I have to agree and say the queue attendants are great to see, grouping people beforehand and letting small groups in stops uncomfortable queuelines and pushing.

The barriers make a better experince too because they stop people queue jumping especially on rides like the haunting down the bottom.

The no nonsense approach you speak of is appreciated by me to

Another thing I hated but thanked the security for. Just over 2 years ago before the accident on Splash Canyon there was a group of lads mid 20’s in the queue In front of us and they started smoking. Security must have noticed them straight away on CCTV and came and told them to put it out and if they were caught doing it again they will be told to leave the park. When the queue got into the undercover section they lit up again then when they got on the ride we were asked if they were the lads who was smoking in the queue. I said yes then the staff were on the radio to security and by the time they got off the ride there was a lot of Security leading them off the ride and out the park.

When I was last at the park some of the queue attendants just looked like they didn’t want to be there and were so bored. Some of them were on the same ride all day and I felt sorry for them. I think next time they should rotate the attendants around different roles such as 1 hour doing attending and 1 hour working on the rides etc.

Don't forget that some of the queue attendants were from an external company which the park would have hired for the busy days. I overheard one of them on Maelstrom saying that it was her first time at the park.

Also they have members of staff working In set area only so they know all the drills of the rides in that area. For example when I went last 2 weeks ago Air Race broke down and the members of staff were they just saying the ride will be unavailable for the time been but go off and enjoy the rest of the park and check back later. The ride didn’t reopen but 1 member of the staff was put on Shockwave pic solve and the other 2 in the Stormforce 10 station.

i dont get annoyed easily but queue jumping is one of the things that really ticks me off i was at the park on a school trip last year or the year before a couple of lads from my school tried jumping the queue for maelstrom and security asked them politely to move to the back of the queue when they refused and started acting hard the security removed them from the queue forcefully
