2025: General Discussion

We're going to take a look at some of the things we have time to dig out some photo albums too I think

We all take hundreds of photos then forget to delete the bad one. The only one I have is back in the 1970s in the zoo.

I think they looked at last season and monitored the days the park been busy and with Easter school holidays not starting to the 12th April it makes perfect sense just to have Thomas land open and select rides.
Also with the Jolly Buccaneer been closed for the Feb half term event maybe they started work on the pirate adventure building.

That would be amazing!

I wonder what sort of season Drayton gonna have this year?
It’s been very quiet on social media and this sale really is telling me not many have brought any or renewed.
I don't think we will see any new attractions this year as last year had significant investment (And I think Pleasurewood deserve a turn on new things)

I believe we will see new events and celebrations in form of those though :)
Things are likely in the pipeline but the parks current focus will be half term.

A year to refresh and reflect!

I am hoping that 2025 will have a bit of a refresh strategy. In terms of ride offering, the last three years has seen significant improvements. However there are signs that some areas need a bit of TLC. Jolly buccaneer and the area around it, Buffalo (can't spell the current name lol) needs improvements due to vandalism, spencer outdoor play closed (Wikipedia quoting moved to near James and the the red balloon area, no idea how accurate and can't be relied upon).

I am hoping to see Accelerator sorted out, and hopefully prep for a new ride where the flying dutchman is with that moving to Viking. Removal of the flying dutchman would be a tragedy in my view.

They have invested heavily and in 2024 had significant competition with new rides opening. 2025 is showing signs of marketing for the main season of improved events. My personal opinion is a significant cutback for half term, which I personally will not be attending as my seven year old is getting past Thomasland and looking at doing other non-theme park events. Saying that, last year the dinosaur event wasn't well attended so suspect it will be a cost saving to offer a simpler event that costs less to put on. The park will suffer significant increase in labour costs so may be taking this year to capitalise on the investments and the birthday celebrations. The Halloween and Christmas events were changed and need to be reviewed as they were significantly reduced from that previously. Hopefully they will use this year to refresh and reflect on the past and then a new attraction and lodges in 2026 in a similar way to Legoland in 2024.

Also hoping for improvements to the zoo and tidying up of the old play area and Dino trail has some TLC.

Both Pleasurewood Hills and WMSP Adventure park need significant investment given the aging of their rides. Therefore some competition for investment.

Looking forward to the main season

I thought the christmas event just gone was absolutely shocking compared to the year before when they had the wishmas express train.

I do feel that under 6 play area could be moved to Thomas land as it gives the kids something to do while the parents have a rest. The band stand could easily be removed as it’s very rarely used.
I wonder if with no new rides will we see work on the pirate adventure building started and finishing off the Western theme.

2025 recruitment is here!

On the 15-16th of February, the park is hosting a recruitment day for various roles across park.

Find out more -

Hope retention is better this year. Last season staff were complaining to us that there wasn’t enough staff to rotate for breaks (completely illegal but still)

Better pay would be a start - uk parks really need to move away from poorly paid seasonal workforce to keep the quality up all year around.

Well not sure if it’s a mistake but the map on the Thomas Half term event has the area where Terence use to be open again
IMG_5174.png

It looks like the young kids play area has been removed and a new bulilding been installed where the Bunnies use to be.
Also Spencer’s outdoor play area has returned.
Also with the Jolly Buccaneer not available for the event is it be cause of construction work on the pirate adventure building.

I wouldn't say anything is confirmed until we see it for ourselves.
Maps & offerings have a tendancy to change over the season.

As for Jolly Buccaneer / the pirate side - I don't think they are operating for Half term as the event has a sole focus on Thomasland (As much as we would love to read further into it, I cannot at this stage )

True.. but… accelerator is open.
They have re-added that again, wasn't on there when I originally looked.
Doesn't mean anything will be happening to P.Adventure though
More likely, they are opening some more rides up there, because the Rory & Lory shows happen at that side of the park so it makes more sense to open something there (Crowd control )

Ride lineups change a lot on the runup to events.

But seems pointless as it’s the only ride at that end of the park that is open so I doubt it will have a queue. Also I wonder if they done any work to the queue line and station over the past 6 weeks?
