The Wave (formerly known as Shockwave)

Today’s operations were massively improved as the map bars could come down in one move rather than the usual half way first routine.

I wonder what’s changed!
This has been the case for a while, I believe Drayton had ART engineering back in to update the train to be capable of doing the necessary verification of the two restraint systems.

Anyone ever noticed this outside of the windiw in the queue line?

Great photos! I do hope that the park will look at repainting the ride soon. Especially with Splash Canyon’s water drained, it would be an ideal time to do so! I’d also like them to repaint the station, maybe back to how it looked in ‘94 with it’s Wild West theme. As in a way, the blue paint dosn’t suit the extirior (in my opinion).
I saw them pressure washing the track struts durring Feb half term (removing the green!). Not sure if it got a paint too..

Do we think Wave will get a 2nd train at some point Drayton need to think about higher capacity rides as the park is getting busier and 2 would really maybe reconfigure the station to have a load and unload to

The station is already capable of the 2 train set up, I’m sure many years ago in its old stand up format , there used to be a 2 train dispatch. I could be wrong about this but I’m sure they used to load the next train as soon as the first one started the climb up the lift hill.

It did run 2 trains at one point, sure it was a red and blue (with what i remember - happy to be corrected), but they would load up when 1st train left, been a looong time since it ran 2 trains though

That’s what I remember too, I would always be gutted when the red train would pull up. Demand is there for a 2 train set up however financially this would probably be a huge ask especially with overheads etc .

It has the capacity and guest interest , its more down to finances if I was to guess (I don't have a clue how much a train costs)

I think this ride is possibly the slowest loading and lowest capacity headline ride in the country.

To be honest, it was a pretty bad business decision for them to buy this new train, from a guest experience perspective.

The extremely slow loading, paired with crap operations, segregation with fast track and that awful, claustrophobic queue, make the experience for this, pretty awful.

Did no one consider the implications of capacity when when they purchased this? Clearly not. For a park trying to attract more and more guests, they need to be boosting throughput not lowering it, as if people only get on a handful of rides, on a busy day, the majority of people just wont return in a hurry.

Shockwave wasn't a fast loader either the problem is when this was installed the park was quieter also. With a height restriction of 1.2m opens up for more people to ride they desperately need to improve ops and get a 2nd train for the Wave
