The Haunting

Forgot to show these yesterday. New signs near the archway, and it looks like the image is AI generated :(

FROM THE WILD WEST OF 1850 TO THE EERIE CORRIDORS
OF THE PAST, EXPERIENCE "THE HAUNTING"
- A CHILLING JOURNEY THROUGH FORGOTTEN MYSTERIES
AND GHOSTLY WHISPERS. BRACE YOURSELF FOR A THRILLING ENCOUNTER THAT
TRANSCENDS YOU BACK THROUGH TIME ITSELF”

Back in time from 1850? But the haunting has… a car outside.. and TV equipment in the pre-show…

Sounds like something from back to the future! but seriously makes you wonder if they will be replacing the storyline next season?

If they are changing the storyline for next season, that's pretty much 11 months the ride will be stuck like this in a state which doesn't make sense in comparison to the sign outside of it.

Yep, under the current storyline I think Haunting is supposed to be set in 1996 again, or even the present day. The sign makes no sense.

Backing up what Trooper Looper is saying, having signs trying to explain everything is so unnecessary and doesn't add to the experience. Instead it's far better to use visuals, theming, props, or background detail. You don't need to be told you're leaving the Wild West area either. The ground is tarmac, there aren't many signs outside of the buildings that you're in a Wild West area anyway, so there's no purpose in it, as Haunting doesn't even look out of place.

Why just not have it as a western haunted house keep it the same but just re theme the front to a western looking abandoned house

I dont think we can really knock the park over this. It seems the long term plan for both Haunting & Accelerator is to retheme them but budget & time are probably the reason these haven't happened this season & at least it means we don't have SBNO attractions. They've tried to theme it in, however badly we might think at least the attractions are still there to enjoy.

More signage

With the Western theme from 1850 the vicarage pre dates this by 54 years but wasn’t discovered to 1996. It makes more sense with the original story line in the library. Maybe they can project the vicar on the picture instead and bring his audio back.

such a shame that AI is being used regularly in promotional and in park signage, the new signs look fine i do like they are keeping the 96 theme though as its a lot better than the ghostman version just hope the animatronic in the painting is used if they can get a new head made.

Would have probably been fine as it is - until they get the time/funds to dedicate a full proper retheme :) as this half & half doesn't work for Haunting...

Regarding the Signage, I must echo the sentiments above… Absolutely no issue with the updated Restrictions Signage, but the “Gateway to The Haunting” is completely unnecessary.

If the year on the Drayton Green Vicarage signage is an issue, it’d have been better to remove this, rather than adding an AI-generated spiel that makes no sense and adds no value.

Regarding The Haunting’s theme, I believe it would be a huge task to retheme, and would be a massive loss for the UK Dark Ride industry. Instead, why can budget not be allocated to fix broken effects and make The Haunting an even more brilliant base product?

In all honesty, we live in a world where you can step out of The Vikings and into the Wild West… Is it too unrealistic for a Wild West town to have a Haunted House?

Agreed, they didn't need to really "explain" the change from Frontier Falls to The Haunting.
Its a themepark, doesn't have to make sense all the time :D
For diehard Merlin fans you have to sadly. In their eyes everyone needs an explanation or a deep story behind why a ride is the way it is, and it does my head in. Why can't rides just look cool or be a different theme for the sake of it? It adds variety to parks as well, offering something for everyone.

It's such a shame that they can't redirect the queue line to give it a new entrance & then non of this theming would be an issue. The problem is, the ride is so hidden & in between so many buildings, it just makes it impossible to do.

I’m really confused by this sign that’s now up in 2 places on the haunting queue line. To me the wording suggest a different experience to what the current format is.
It just doesn’t match for me.

Agree - I’ve never thought about the Haunting as going back through time. I’ve assumed it was a modern day visit to an old house.

If they wanted to, they could easily change the Dr X video and some of the paintings to be cowboy focussed.
